Olinda Action Group

Olinda

The Olinda Action Group was established in 2002 and has achieved a great deal since being formed.

The Group works in various areas in and around Olinda, working tirelessly to remove environmental weeds, plant natives and raise awareness within the immediate community.

They are also active in giving the community a voice on environmental issues and the built environment, with a key focus on ensuring developments are consistent with local character.

The Group have developed their own website and regular newsletters. They try to reach people of all backgrounds and ages and are good role models in what they are trying to achieve.

They have managed various projects which have included other organisations such as the local CFA, Keep Australia Beautiful, Planet Ark, the Shire of Yarra Ranges and many more.

Projects include revegetation and restoration of Charlemont Bushwalk, National Tree Day plantings, and involvement in infrastructure reference groups such as the Optus Fibre Optics Cable project.

Sue, Bruce & Mark were honoured to receive the award on behalf of all OAG members from Cr Cox, Mayor Tim Heenan and other Shire representatives at the award ceremony
